This is an appeal from the heart.
Every day in New Zealand 1.5 people take their own lives. We need to change these devastating statistics. That’s why my husband and I are part of a small group of eight core riders (the other six of whom are all half our age!) doing the “ Ride Out of the Blue” this October. We will be riding from Bluff to Cape Reinga, 2,300ks, aiming to raise awareness of suicide and depression. As we travel the country we will stop in 21 towns and cities, bringing these issues to the forefront of New Zealander’s minds. We are also raising money to contribute to the roll-out of a Mindfulness programme in the worst affected schools in this country, targeting 13 to 17 year olds, our most vulnerable age group.
The ride this year is led by New Zealand actress Aidee Walker. To find out more about the ride and make a donation to help our cause please go to: www.mentalhealth.org.nz/page/960-challenges+ride-out-of-the-blue-2012 .
We appreciate your support and would be grateful if you could forward this information to all your family, friends and colleagues. Thank you all.
