As this year is coming to a close I would like to take this opportunity to thank every woman who has been a member of our organisation and for the tremendous work that each and every one of you have undertaken in your club and community.
The time that has been volunteered by your club existing officers is acknowledged as it is through the work each woman has carried out that has assisted in the club’s continued presence in the community and helped maintain the profile and presence of BPW.
There have been a wide variety of local community projects that existing and new members have developed and it would be great to have these projects celebrated in our newsletter and on the website. In turn other clubs can then pick these projects and incorporate them in their communities.
Your stories are important, not only do you need to spread the word around BPW but you need to do so in your communities and reading some of the club newsletters this appears to being done in various ways from Mana’s ‘firecracker’ project, Huntly & Districts Wearable Arts to Gisborne’s book fundraising that is seeing members out in their community every Saturday. I invite you all to submit your Club reports to go into the 2012 Yearbook, so we can then forward it to you in a pdf format on a memory stick (or access through the website), to utilise as an additional club tool.
In addition, I am writing to you, to look within yourselves and/or clubs for women who are now ready to step up into the Federation level. We are looking to members in all areas that can give of some of their leadership skills, abilities or BPW knowledge to assist members that are staying on in their second or final terms. With a full team, from VP Issues to marketing and YoungBPW convenors we can then spread the workload and achieve more. There are a number of women I have met over the last couple of years, but you will know each other better and could provide the encouragement for them to now step up. To those of you I have approached, thank you for your consideration and I hope that you can assist our incoming Executive members through one-off projects, time permitting.
If there is anyone that is interested in volunteering their time and being a part of our Executive in our 74th year then please contact me or the Executive Secretary for a nomination form.
I wish you all a very safe, healthy and happy Christmas and look forward to hearing from you all in the New Year.
My Warmest Regards,
BPW NZ President
