Esteemed members of the General Assembly,
It is with regrets that we have to inform you that our dear SC member Siegmien Staphorst has decided to resign from the Steering Committee of the Women for Water Partnership before the ending of her second term. The reason is that because of her rising obligations in Suriname and hence extremely busy schedule, she can no longer find the time to serve WfWP adequately in these trying times. While we fully understand and highly respect her decision, her professional and dedicated contributions will be deeply missed.
On behalf of the President and the entire Steering Committee I herewith express our sincere appreciation Siegmien’s commitment and contributions to the Women for Water Partnership since the very beginning of our partnership. We stand to lose a warm and dedicated SC member with extensive experience at both grassroots and policymaking level.
Her contributions throughout the year have been invaluable to our development and growth.
In the tradition of her wisdom and true commitment, Siegmien now makes room for a new member of our team so as to have the Steering Committee at full strength during this critical time in our existence. We highly value her offer to stay with us in an advisory role coaching her successor so that the institutional memory stays intact.
Herewith I announce the vacancy of the position of Steering Committee Member of the
Women for Water Partnership.
I call upon all member organizations to place their nominations before 30 June 2013.
To maintain our regional balance, candidates are preferable from Latin America & Caribbean region. However, candidates from Asia are also welcome since the SC member from that region, Kusum Athukorala, will end her second term in 4 November 2013.
Please find attached for your consideration, the general profile and the relevant paragraphs of our Statutes and By Laws.
On behalf of the Steering Committee,
Hon. Secretary Women for Water Partnership
