The owner of this unique restaurant says he is proud to be offering new opportunities for deaf workers. In the U.S., the total unemployment rate for disabled workers is over 12%, nearly double that of the non-disabled community, according to the Bureau of Labor. So far, there are no plans to expand Signs into a chain or to open a similar restaurant in the U.S., but the eatery reports it is swamped with reservations and local food critics have been giving it positive reviews. One patron described her experience at Signs as “eye-opening, educational and SO delicious!”
